A LO of my hunny and me

Ever had one of those photos where you REALLY want to put it on a LO but haven't found the perfect paper for it?  This picture has been taunting me for over a year now.

Last night I decided to finally finish it!  As I was sadly saying I didn't have any beautiful Prima flowers to add to the layout, a good friend (thanks Liz!) suggested trying to do a few roses Tim Holtz style!  A genius she is! :)

After watching a few tutorials, I felt brave enough to try it.  I do not have the Sizzix die Tim Holtz uses, but I do have my Cricut!  I used a flower from Straight From The Nest and this is the end result.  I used Icicle Stickles and a paint brush to add to the flowers.

I'm also submitting this for Erin Lee Creative.  Every Monday a new challenge for Music Monday will be posted!  This week the song was "You Are The Best Thing" by Ray Lamontagne and all I could think about was our AAAA Ball picture!  So here it is. :)

Throwback Thursday Challenge

Over at My Creative Time Emma has posted the Throwback Thursday challenge.  This week it was our choice for which cartridge we wanted to use and the only rule was to use hearts.  Today I received Sweet Treats and Straight From The Nest and I since they're older carts, I decided to use Sweet Treats for the challenge!  I can't wait to try out the cupcake holders and all of the fun options!

I used My Mind's Eye Summer Song paper and I love how glittery it is!  I'm not sure where the yellow glitter paper came from but it really does stand out in person.  I hope my niece likes her card! The stamp inside smudged a little but I think it gives it character. ;)

Recipe:
Sweet Treats - cupcake 5"
My Mind's Eye - patterned paper
DCWV - cardstock
Hero Arts - Stamp
Kaiser Scrapbook - Rhinestones
Palette - Ink
Adhesive - foam tape, Glue Glider Pro

OLW Banner

I've been patiently waiting for Straight From The Nest and Sweet Treats to arrive to add to my banner but I decided to go ahead and post what I've done so far.  For the ends I plan on using either the butterfly or owl from SFTN.

I wanted to make a banner for my OLW (one little word) so that anytime I'm in my craft room, I can be reminded of what I'm striving for this year.  I wish I had cut the banner pieces a little larger than 5" (usually I do 5.5") but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.  I used a cereal box to line the back of the banner pieces because the paper was fairly thin.  To cut it with my Cricut, I first cut it down to size, and then adjusted my blade to 6 with "max" pressure.  It cut it perfectly and I didn't even have to buy a deep blade or make any alterations once finished.

Here's the recipe!

My Mind's Eye (Penny Lane) - patterned paper
Core'dinations - white cardstock
Gypsy Font - Letters 2.75"
Rosette  - 2"
Tags, Bags, Boxes & More - Banner 5"
Fiskars - punch
Ribbon - Hobby Lobby
cereal box for backing (Thanks Kix!)

One Little Word

For the past few years I've been choosing one little word to live by, instead of choosing a few resolutions that I'd soon forget about.

I first heard of this from some fellow scrappy friends who follow Ali Edwards blog.  Please click here to read Ali's post on her blog.  Since last week I've been trying to find a word that really speaks to me.  I really love Grow, Believe and Create but the one word that has stuck with me is Faith.

There are many reasons this word speaks to me. One of the biggest reasons is still personal, but I also want to renew my faith in God.  I want to remember to have faith in myself, my abilities and in my family.

I've decided to follow Liz's idea and create a banner to hang in my craft room.  That way anytime I'm feeling a little low, all I need to do is walk in my room and focus on believing. :)

What word have you chosen?  I'd love to hear about it!
