DIY Craft Desk

Before last month, I had to pull all of my scrap supplies out of my rolling tote, drag them to the dining room, and pile my table full of scrap goodness. I was completely happy having such a large area to work with, but Willie was less than happy with tripping over my supplies as he walked to the kitchen. :) We decided I needed a desk, but I couldn't find one that I felt was sturdy enough or was in our price range.

I decided that I wanted to build my own desk (you know...since I have so much experience with woodworking haha) but nevertheless, I was determined! I found my desk here at janny pie crafts.

Feeling completely inspired, I decided instead of using 2 cubes from Target, I would build my own. I sketched up some measurements, went over them with Willie, and headed off to Lowes (advertisement!) to get my supplies.

I had no idea how to get started, so Willie showed me how to counter-set (ooo, so that's how it's done!) and away I went! I'm so proud that I built my desk all by myself...okay, minus him getting me started and him helping me a few times I was cursing the screws. :D

I love it! And nothing beats feeling accomplished. :) I made a few changes, but here are the progression pictures!

Do you remember what all the supplies cost! I have been looking at buying a corner desk!

Tabitha, I'm trying to recall...I want to say it cost me around $70? I bought 2 sheets of MDF to build everything, had to buy screws, wood glue and paint.

Also, I used to pieces of stair railing for the legs off the right side. They were 2-3 dollars I piece I believe.

This is great! Do you have the measurements for the cubes you built? I love the idea of building them rather than buying them.

How did you attach the table legs?
